LongArm Competency

Do you love quiltmaking but hate trying to stuff your bed quilts through your sewing machine? This 4-week course will teach you how to use Moon Star Studio’s LongArm to finish your quilts.

Competency with the LongArm

Trains the student to competent operation of the APQS Millennium longarm quilting machine. At the completion of training, the student, on passing a final exam, is qualified to use the Moon Star Studio LongArm at a reduced leasing rate.

What's Included?

This course trains you in two quilting techniques using the LongArm quilting machine. Included in the course is:

  • 4 individual 4-hour lessons, mostly spent hands-on with Moon Star Studio’s APQS Millennium LongArm.
  • Study Notes identifying the topics to be covered in each lesson.
  • Access to Moon Star Studio’s quilting library, including books, videos, patterns, etc.
  • Training in freehand quilting, and your choice of either Freehand Feathers, Pantograph (or allover) quilting, stitch-in-the-ditch, or pattern quilting.
  • Training should be scheduled on a regular basis, e.g., every Thursday evening. Training can proceed faster if desired by scheduling more than one session per week.
  • Upon successful completion of the course and passing a test, the student will be qualified to lease the Moon Star Studio LongArm at Competency rates.
  • Upon completion, the student will receive a non-transferable credit of $175 applicable towards an abbreviated version (three weeks shortened) of the LongArm Mastery course, provided it is taken within 2 years of completion of the Competency course.

What's It Cost?

The complete course costs $379.

A $79 deposit plus $150 for the first lesson is due at commitment, with an additional $150 due at the second lesson.
